Alpine Watershed Group

The Alpine Watershed Group’s mission is to preserve and enhance the natural system functions of Alpine County's watershed for future generations.
The group works by engaging partners and community members in collaborating and proactively implementing projects that benefit and steward the County's watershed.

The Alpine Watershed Group (AWG) is a community-based nonprofit organization.  AWG has been serving Alpine County’s watershed coordination needs for over ten years.  We strive to create opportunities for residents and visitors to participate in environmental stewardship programs.  AWG’s activities include the following:

  • Volunteer Water Monitoring Program
  • Hope Valley Stewards Program
  • Annual Markleeville Creek Day event
  • On-going stream restoration projects
  • Markleeville Creek Floodplain Restoration Project
