Communicable & Infectious Diseases
The Communicable and Infectious Diseases Program monitors reportable communicable and infectious diseases and investigates and follows cases as necessary. Communicable diseases include, but are not limited to:

Certain testing, such as the PPD skin test for tuberculosis, is available.

HIV / AIDS / STD Program
The Alpine County HIV/AIDS/STD Program provides the following services:
  • HIV / AIDS Testing; It's free and the results are confidential.
  • STD Testing; Free tests for some sexually transmitted diseases, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea, can be done at the Alpine County health Department. Results are available in about 4 to 5 working days. Please call 530-694-2146 for an appointment. Information about other STDs available on the CDC website.

There are several diseases that our community needs to be aware of. Some are endemic to our county and others are unlikely but serious. These include:


If you, or anyone you know in Alpine County, has symptoms of any of these diseases, please contact the Health Department at 530-694-2146. These conditions could be life threatening. Evaluation, treatment, contact tracing, and referral will be made.
