2016-2018 Markleevillage Fuels Reduction Project – Initial Study and Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration
The Community Development Department has completed an initial study and proposed mitigated negative declaration for this project. The project is located on the Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, approximately 1.5 mile west of the town of Markleeville, California. This project is broken down in to two treatment areas. Treatment Area 1, also known as Pleasant Valley, contains 140 acres and will be treated between November 2016 and March 2017. Treatment Area 2, also known as Thornburg Canyon, contains 94 acres and will be treated between November 2017 and March 2018. The Project would be implemented through a working partnership between Alpine County (County), Carson Ranger District of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Alpine Watershed Group (AWG) and the Alpine Fire Safe Council (AFSC).

Alpine County Administration Site Interoperable Communication Tower – Initial Study and Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration

The proposed Project is to fund and construct a communications tower. The purpose of the Project is to improve public safety and interoperable communications among first responders in Alpine County. To accomplish the Project purpose, the County of Alpine proposes to construct, maintain and operate a new 60-foot tall telecommunications monopole tower with ancillary antenna and associated equipment cabinet. The Project will be located on the north side of the County Administrative Building at 99 Water Street on the east side of State Highway 89 in the NE ¼ of the SE ¼ of Section 21, T 10N, R 20E.
