Alpine County seeks to achieve recognition on the Fire Risk Reduction Community List maintained by the California Board of Forestry as mandated by PRC 4290.1 demonstrating best practice in wildfire mitigation. Inclusion on this list requires, among other elements, updates to the Safety Element of the County General Plan regarding wildfire mitigation. Specific details on the Fire Risk Reduction Community List and the application process can be found at Fire Risk Reduction Community List (https://bof.fire.ca.gov/projects-and-programs/fire-risk-reduction-community-list/). Alpine County Community Development Department has made updates to the Safety Element of the General Plan for review and approval by the Planning Commission and the California Board of Forestry. After approval by both bodies, this revised Safety Element is now presented to the Alpine County of Supervisors for adoption into the General Plan.
The 2025 Safety Element is being presented to the Alpine County Board of Supervisors on April 7, 2026 at their regular Board meeting. The document can be viewed in the link below.
