Welcome to the Alpine County Library!

We are proud to offer a Main Library in Markleeville, a branch in Bear Valley, and a Bookmobile that provides service to the Hung-a-lel-ti Community, Sierra Pines, Mad dog Café and Kirkwood Mountain Village.  We encourage you take advantage of the many services we provide including our popular ZipBooks program.

To obtain a library card either submit this ONLINE APPLICATION FORM or visit the library in person.

If you prefer, you can print out and complete the appropriate application listed below. Simply "snail mail" or bring  your completed application to the Library to begin enjoying our many services.

Paper Application Forms

  • Resident (Live in Alpine County full time) 
  • Non-Resident (Live outside of Alpine and either work in the County or in a nearby community and  frequent the Alpine County Library) 
  • Student/Minor (Residents/non-residents under the age of 18) 
  • Temporary (For those working seasonally at Kirkwood or Bear Valley ski resorts or vacationing/camping in Alpine County)
