At approximately 10:15am there was a hazardous materials spill on State Highway 88 near Woodfords Junction.
The Alpine County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with Eastern Alpine Fire has ordered evacuations of residences and businesses in the immediate vicinity.
Currently State Highway 88 is closed to westbound traffic at Upper Immigrant Trail and to eastbound traffic at Pickett's Junction.
Lower Alpine County residents may still access the Mesa area and Hung-A-Lel-Ti.
Diamond Valley Road is open.
Traffic on Highway 89 south of Woodfords Junction is prohibited from Diamond Valley Road north.
At this time there is no estimated time of allowing reentry into the evacuated area.
