[ARCHIVED] Alpine County Wildfire Risk Mitigation Plan

Alpine County is preparing a Wildfire Risk Mitigation Plan (WRMP) under a Fire Prevention Grant received from CAL FIRE. The WRMP will enable the County to implement activities that address the risk of wildfire in our communities. The WRMP will identify important assets and resources within the County, use modeling techniques to identify high fire hazard areas, and define and prioritize cost effective projects to to protect the most at-risk resources. Two workshops in February will introduce the public to the need for the WRMP, areas of wildfire risk, and how the WRMP is being developed. The February workshops will be held in Markleeville and Bear Valley. A single follow up workshop/meeting will be in held later this spring in Markleeville and will present the results of the planning effort and up to three priority projects defined in the WRMP.

Markleeville:  February 25, 5:00 p.m. – Alpine County Administration Building, 99 Water Street

Bear Valley:  February 26, 4:00 p.m. – Bear Valley Library, 367 Creekside Drive
